Joan is a retiree who has an age-related hearing loss.
Joan is a widow who lives by herself. She enjoys reading, solving crossword puzzles, and likes to cook. She lives an active lifestyle but was struggling with her hearing.
In adults, hearing loss is often age-related, as is the case with Joan.
Joan’s two supportive daughters noticed that their mum’s hearing was getting worse, “My two daughters would always tell me, ‘mum you’re not hearing me’ and ‘mum, it’s getting worse.’” Joan stated.
“When my daughter Penny went to her Physio in Toowong, she spotted Karen’s place. She told me, ‘mum, I’m making an appointment there to take you’. And that’s when I started seeing Karen, and I’ll never regret it as long as I live” said Joan.

At World of Hearing we strive to make the experience as relaxed and informative as possible for all our clients. Joan was able to trial various levels of hearing aids until she found the right device for her requirements.
Joan was very happy with her final decision. She told us, “I can hear so well. My daughters think it’s great, of course – they don’t have to shout to MUM anymore.”
“Meeting this beautiful Karen who is so caring and gentle, I was actually a bit apprehensive because I had this hearing test years ago, it was not really a great experience,” Joan says. “But with Karen, it was really amazing and comfortable,” she adds.
It is a truly rewarding experience helping someone overcome the limitations of a hearing loss. To be able to have clients reconnect with their family & friends is priceless.
