Nancy is an Anthropologist with an active professional lifestyle, but when she started to lose her hearing, life wasn’t quite the same.
Originally from the United States of America, Nancy travelled to Australia to study the Aboriginal culture and pursue Anthropology. She loved it so much, that she decided to stay and work extensively at the University of Queensland.
Nearing 90 years old now, Nancy is more active and independent than most people her age.
Like most though, Nancy had a gradual decline in her hearing and had made the move to purchase hearing aids.
Nancy was referred to an audiologist by her local GP. Unfortunately, in this instance, it wasn’t a pleasant experience for Nancy or her family. Not only was it costly, the hearing device she was recommended and subsequently purchased, wasn’t suitable for her needs leaving her feeling very frustrated. Through word of mouth, Nancy heard about another client’s positive experience from World of Hearing and decided to get in touch with us.
When Nancy first stepped into World of Hearing for her appointment with Karen, she shared her story of how she tried to find the best ENT specialist in Brisbane who can bring back her hearing. We listened to all of Nancy’s concerns and were confident we would be able to help achieve her goals. This time around things would be different.
After trialling several different hearing aids and accessories we managed to find Nancy the right hearing aid for all her needs. She was able to hear her children clearly for the first time in years. Using direct streaming Bluetooth technology, phone calls were made easy, clear and effortless. “It’s Amazing” says Nancy. Living abroad from her children meant she was able to reconnect with them again via phone and video calls.
“I have to say that my experience at World of Hearing was absolutely incredible. I can’t imagine anybody who would take as much time, patience, and effort, be as generous, and of course, as highly skilled as Karen is,” said Nancy.
